Overview

The Drop Bear Game is a low-stakes contest of ‘unskill’ and ‘unaesthetic’ – throwing art thinking out the door. The goal of the Drop Bear Game is to shake up your creative preconceptions by producing a truly awful piece of art.

Awful art?! Why, What, Where, When, How?
We live in hard and fast times, a life that runs creative folk ragged. We’re constantly bombarded with production churning, branding, hustling our peaches off and striving for success. Without realising it we’ve become conditioned to feeling guilty about enjoying our art, making art for art’s sake, and no longer having the freedom to fail.

The Drop Bear Game is here to undo the grind.

Your meticulously crafted words, perfect brush strokes and impeccable taste has no place here!

Congratulations to the
2025 Drop Bear Game winners

Literary Arts Winner
‘Sabre Tooth Tiger’ by Jesi

“It’s an entry in my art journal (that I wrote up in word cause of handwriting) I thought sounded artsy, but maybe it’s just edgy? I’m 33 I’m too old for this stuff (but the right generation – millennial pride!)”

Visual Arts Winner
‘Asstonishing Past’ by Xevionart

“Upon the entry requirement that it didn’t have to be something new I drew, I pulled up this archive from a millenia ago. It always brings me a chuckle seeing the gloriously round asscheeks. I don’t know what I was on when I drew those gnarly fingers, but past me was once happy with this quality of art.”

Recorded Arts Winner
‘stairs??’ by Lily

“Not sure why 2019 Lily thought this was aesthetic, or why there’s literally 23 photos of the same hotel stairs in my camera roll, but I hope these humble photos remind everyone else of their cringe eras when they thought using their iPhone 5 cameras made them professional photographers <3”
