Streetview
Landscapes
Hosted by SunaSoldier
Overview
A special Sunday Studio session with artists exploring landscape reference materials from digital streetview images.
Using websites such as Google Maps, MapCrunch or Random Street View participants were encouraged to explore a random location photographed and find a pleasing composition.
Together they explored colour, contrast, values and how to draw out an engaging story from everyday scenery.
Artists learned foundational art techniques and a resilience to the dreaded ‘blank page’ seeing how easy it may be to paint a landscape in just a few hours.

“This workshop was a great addition to the work I’d been doing with values in colour. Finding focal points, stretching and pulling different parts of the reference was an awesome creative exercise in storytelling.”
